TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Dar al-Ifta of Jordan has issued a Fatwa (religious edict) banning coronavirus patients from attending congregational prayers.

The Fatwa says it is Haram (religiously forbidden) for these patients and those who are suspected of having contracted COVID-19 to attend mass prayers, RT Arabic reported.

It was issued in response to questions about attending mass prayers, including Friday prayers, during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Fatwa also stressed that hiding the infection is Haram and that the patients and others must comply with the health protocols to prevent the spread of the disease.

The coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China, in December has since spread to over 11.3 million people in almost every country around the world.

More than 533,000 people have died of the infectious disease worldwide.
